About the Tournament
Inspired by Legends.
Powered by Purpose.
The L5 Investments Capital Cup showcases 32 prominent members of the Sacramento business community, fostering camaraderie and friendly competition among participants who may be competitors in their professional lives. Each player invests $2,800 to participate, with their individual fundraising efforts dedicated to their chosen charities.
2 Teams.
Big Prize.
Endless Glory.
Unlike traditional charity events that incur significant fundraising costs, the Capital Cup ensures virtually 100% of funds raised go directly to the supported charities, thanks to the generous contributions of our players and sponsors. This efficiency has helped us become the second largest fundraiser in the Sacramento region, second only to the Big Day of Giving.
It’s a creative way to bring together community leaders, promote philanthropy, and enjoy some competitive golf. The participants get to network and have fun while also making a positive impact on causes they care about.

The Legacy
The Capital Cup emerged from understanding a common challenge: many executives want to support causes close to their hearts through charity golf tournaments but struggle to find the time. In a landscape with over 800,000 annual golf events across the US—each raising between $5,000 and $300,000 on average—the competition for charitable dollars we wanted to create something truly distinctive that would maximize executives’ limited time while amplifying their philanthropic impact.
Inspired by the Ryder Cup, which for over 90 years has brought together the best golfers from the United States and Europe, our tournament follows a similar format but with a charitable twist. Our players compete not for prize money, but for the love of the game and the opportunity to make a difference. Our vision is to bring the tradition, competition, and esprit de corps of the Ryder Cup to Sacramento—while realizing the added benefit of raising money for up to 32 of the region’s most-deserving charities. Over the past decade, it has grown into a significant event, embodying the essence of regional pride and sportsmanship, all while supporting the local community.
In our inaugural year, our goal was to raise $150,000 for various charities. Remarkably, we surpassed this target almost threefold, and our momentum has only grown stronger. Year after year, our impact continued to multiply as the Sacramento business community embraced our unique concept.
Last year, we proudly exceeded $18 million in total donations across our history. This year, we aim to continue this legacy by surpassing the $20,000,000 mark. Since our inception, we have supported 92 non-profits, with individual players often raising between $30,000 and $100,000+ for their causes.
Now in our eleventh year, the Capital Cup is proud to continue the pursuit of our founding goals: to increase awareness of, and raise funds for, up to 32 local and national charities, and to promote a spirit of competition, camaraderie, and collaboration among the region’s top business leaders.
Each participating team represents and raises funds for a specific charity, ensuring that the event benefits a diverse array of causes within the region. This unique blend of sport and philanthropy has made the Capital Cup a beloved tradition in Sacramento and a powerful force for community good.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to growing our impact, strengthening community bonds, and continuing to harness the power of friendly competition for the greater good of Sacramento and beyond.
