Hernani Alves

Balanced IQ Leadership

 (Participant since 2022)

Hernani is proud to compete in this year’s Capital Cup on behalf of Ticket to Dream. Not everyone can be a foster parent, but anyone can help a foster child, and that belief is what drives Hernani’s support for Ticket to Dream. He’ll never forget hearing about a three-year-old girl and her five-year-old brother who were found alone in a car after losing both parents to drug overdoses, then separated in foster care and only able to see each other at summer camp. Stories like theirs are why Hernani and his wife Angie have spent years building and delivering backpacks, volunteering, and giving directly to programs serving foster children through TicketToDream.org, which helps foster kids access the everyday things every child deserves: school supplies, proper clothing, sports, summer camp, and the chance to simply feel like a kid.

By playing in the Capital Cup, Hernani is joining a field of local leaders competing not just for a trophy, but for the causes they care about most. Modeled after the Ryder Cup, the tournament pits two teams against each other in a three-day competition, with proceeds benefiting each golfer’s chosen charity. The winning team’s charities split a $100,000 prize fund, and the event has raised more than $20 million for Sacramento-region nonprofits since it began.

Hernani is asking for your support to help Ticket to Dream give foster children hope, confidence, and the chance to dream bigger, and to make sure they know they haven’t been forgotten.
